Brain Wasting Disease Research Gets $2.9M in Funding

Eleven collaborative projects led by Canadian researchers have been awarded $2.9 million to investigate prion diseases such as mad cow and neurodegenerative diseases like Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s, and ALS. The funding comes from the Networks of Centres of Excellence Canada (NCE) program to PrioNet Canada, a national network of research in prion disease. Among the recipients are scientists studying misfolded proteins associated with ALS in order to develop therapies to slow disease progression.
