Director, Tanz Centre for Research in Neurodegenerative Diseases

Applications are invited for the position of Director of the Tanz Centre for Research in Neurodegenerative Diseases (Tanz Centre) in the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Toronto, CANADA.

The incoming Director will be an internationally recognized leader in neurodegeneration research with the experience to catalyze research—from fundamental neuroscience and cellular mechanisms to translation research—in all areas of neurodegenerative diseases with a commitment to open data and open science. They will have a record of successful collaborative leadership and possess outstanding relationship and business acumen to create and engage partnerships across a complex network of healthcare institutions.
The successful candidate will be deeply committed to excellence in education, demonstrate teaching excellence at both the undergraduate and graduate program levels, and have significant experience as an effective mentor/supervisor. They will be expected to pursue innovative research at the highest international level and to maintain and lead a strong, independent, externally-funded research program. Experience and/or enthusiasm in fundraising would be an asset. The successful candidate must have a clear vision and demonstrated ability to take the Tanz Centre to an even higher level of achievement and international recognition.

The successful candidate will have a PhD and/or medical degree in a related discipline. They must either hold or be eligible for a faculty appointment at a senior academic rank at the University of Toronto at a level of accomplishment for a competitive funding package. The Faculty of Medicine is currently in a campaign to raise philanthropic funds to support the incoming Director of the Tanz Centre and their priorities.
